Merit Badge Program at Camp Fleischmann
2014 Camp Merit Badge Program information is under review. For now you will be able to look at the 2013 schedule to get an idea of how the program worked last summer. See below.
Scouts and Scouters! Camp Fleischmann uses a block schedule for Merit Badges. This means that Scouts are in ½ day, 1 day, or 2 day merit badges. Scouts will be in sessions between 9:00am and 12:00pm in the morning, then from 1:30pm to 3:00pm in the afternoon. From 3:00pm to 5:00pm, open time is available as well as traditional Fleischmann competitions!
How does this work?
When looking at the schedule it is easiest to look at one day of the week and choose a Merit Badge session, then move to the next day and choose a session, and so on. On the schedule an "x" represents a full day, an “X” with am or pm is a ½ day, and ("X---X") is 2 days. It is possible for Scouts to do 5-7 merit badges with the right combination of ½ day and full day merit badges!
We will have sign-ups on Sunday after dinner at 7:00pm, and at 11:30am through Lunch on Monday start weeks. This will take place in central camp with representatives from each merit badge identified by signs. We will have a drawn map of tables where each area is located available at check-in. Sign-ups will allow sessions to be evenly filled so everyone can get the sessions they want.
On Fridays some sessions will need to meet again depending on the badge, Friday mornings will be designated as “Open Program Time” so Scouts may return to areas to complete requirements and finish qualifying if needed. Friday afternoon will have no merit badge program as Camp Wide Games and the Seneca Run takes place. Area directors reserve the right to use Friday Afternoon for MB completion as well.
Afternoon only merit badges will require the use of Free Time or Fridays to complete, due to the shorter class time
Use the Schedules below to help your Scouts have a great week at camp.
