SESSION 1: June 30- July 3, 2013
SESSION 2: July 3 - July 6, 2013
Family Camp is:
An exciting opportunity for your family to enjoy the rugged outdoors, beauty and activities of premier Scout camp at Camp Fleischmann. Family camp is a place to relax, hike, swim, enjoy nature, read a book or participate in many other exciting activities for only a fraction of the cost of a hotel or resort vacation. At Camp Fleischmann you’ll have the opportunity to boat or spend an evening fishing with your family. Special activities will be held throughout your stay. Family camp is held concurrently with our Cub & Webelos Scout's Adventure Camps so you will have an opportunity to work on some advancement as well.
Who may participate:
The families of anyone registered in the Boy Scouts of America (that’s Tigers, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturers, Sea Scouts, Explorers, and adults) may participate. You can bring along friends too but they must only be camping when you are. Family Camp is intended for families, although many units use this as a great way to have fun and socialize with other families from their unit.
Accomodations are camping!
Like most national, state, or private campgrounds, your sleeping arrangements are camping. You will be bringing your own tents, sleeping bags and teddy bear. You will be assigned a campsite area to set up your tent when you arrive at camp.
RV Camping - There is very limited available space to park your RV. It must be totally self-contained. Camp does not provide utility hookups or dump station services. While we will make every effort to have you park your RV near other families in your unit, we cannot guarantee this.
Eat like the Scouts do during summer camp. Varied and nutrious meals are included in your camp fees. Families may wish to supplement their meals with special things like s'mores. Each campsite has a campfire ring and will be shared by several families. What a great way to share the evening in fellowship. All other food MUST be stored in your vehicles at night. Fleischmann is in bear country and bears do occasionally pass through camp so please do not leave snacks out which only encourages a longer stay. Camp has many small animals who should not be fed people food. Our camp store also carries candy, soda pop, ice cream and more.
You will enjoy seeing the variety of wildlife as you walk the many trails of camp. You can relax for hours and watch a colorful bird, a shy deer, or a mischievous squirrel at play. Use your camera and the memories will last forever. Always popular are the archery range, the rifle range and the shotgun range. Camp provides the equipment and instruction. We have bows just right for the small ones! Do NOT bring your own equipment or ammo to camp.
One of our most popular areas is our craft area. Drop in to express your creativity with the items at hand.
In the evening have a campfire and invite your neighbors. Some evening we have a campwide campfire or other activity. Check the schedule for daily camp activities. Use camp as your base of operations and explore the surrounding area. We are only minutes from the great sport fishing at Lake Almanor or even closer to the back entrances of Lassen Volcanic National Park.
Our lake provides a great place to lay in the sun or swim on a warm afternoon. We feature a great waterfront for swimming, to row a boat, paddle a canoe or just lean back and enjoy the sun as a stiff breeze pushes you along in one of the sailboats from our fleet. If you don’t know how we’ll teach you.
There really aren’t many rules at Family Camps. The Scout Oath and Law are applicable at all times in Scout Camp and we have a few other guidelines for your safety. You will receive a guideline booklet after making your reservation.
- You MUST check in and out of camp! DO NOT just go to a site and set up, you might be asked to move!
- NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED IN CAMP.
- Pets are NOT PERMITTED.
- Bicycles are not permitted at Family Camp due to the environmental impact on the trails and hillsides. Please leave them at home – and enjoy walking, hiking or swimming.
- The Council DOES NOT provide medical insurance for those attending Family Vacation Camp. Medical care bills should be submitted to your private insurance carrier. If you are bringing friends’ children to camp be sure to have a parental consent to treatment form in case medical treatment is needed.
Please see the registration flyer for current costs.
Council Refund Policy applies, however no refunds will be given for weather conditions.
Family Camp is open to any registered Boy Scouts of America person and their family. Friends may attend with the family as a group but must arrive and leave while the BSA family is attending camp. EACH family must fill out a separate form and pay fees although all applications for one party can be submitted together. We will indicate on our records that you wish to camp near each other but cannot guarantee proximity or campsite. See additional information under "Accommodations”.
The majority of the activities of camp are included in the overnight camp fees. There are a few special activities that are not included in the general camp fee that you may want to plan for. These activities are:
- Shooting rifles and shotguns
- Select craft projects
Family Camp is filled until we reach capacity with signups by individual families (not by unit or how many people are in your campsite) as well as Adventure Camp signups.
Mail the application with the fee today, as space is limited. All reservations will be considered on a first come basis.
